SCENIC DESIGN

Men on Boats, written by Jacklyn Backhaus, was the first play that I designed while at the University of Connecticut. We made it all the way through tech, and then the world shut down because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The show was never seen by an audience.

At a young age, I developed a love for Halloween, and quickly became interested in learning how to build my own props. Over the years, I created a yard display of my own creations which eventually turned into an event every Halloween that included a cemetery display taking up my entire front lawn, and a 1200 square foot walk-through haunted house in my back yard.

I designed, built, and painted all of the props and scenery, and then did all of the lighting and sound. I even made many of the costumes that would be worn by my incredible friends who would act in the haunt. I will forever remember the amazing memories we created, not just for ourselves, but the entire neighmorhood.

The walk-through had it's last year in 2016, as I was headed off to college, but I continue to learn and create new things that can be seen every year in October on my parent's lawn. It remains a labor of love, and is what got me interested in technical theater and design. I have since worked at numerous professional haunted attractions, and am currently working on opening my own. I also own Tailored to Fear,  a company that designs, builds, and paints scenery for haunted attractions and escape rooms.
